Characteristics and Techniques of Sponge Abraisves

Sponge abraisve is made of sponge and abrasives. It is produced through various processing steps including gluing, planting fluff, compounding, and shaping. It is suitable for rough surface polishing and grinding of materials such as solid wood furniture, stainless steel, automotive maintenance, mechanical manufacturing, plastic glass, and decorative crafts.

Properties of sponge abraisves

Sponge abraisves polishing and grinding materials made by planting abrasive on a sponge base. They are most suitable for curved surface grinding, can absorb water, and can be used for a long time in water grinding, replacing water abraisve. Sponge abraisves can be made into various shapes and specifications. They are suitable for manual polishing of furniture, polishing of plastic product surfaces, grinding of automotive maintenance paint, surface treatment of metal rust and plastic, and have significant characteristics such as water resistance and acid and alkali resistance. The feature is that it can be used for dry and wet grinding, can be cleaned, and can be reused.

Introduction and characteristics of sponge abraisves' technology

Sponge abraisves introduce a high-quality sponge abraisve production line with advanced level and independently researches and develops high-quality sponge. The professionally produced sponge abraisve has a moderate hand feel, high sharpness, strong wear resistance, fast chip removal, elasticity and flexibility, strong water absorption, and ideal dry and wet grinding effects. It is widely used in manual polishing of furniture, polishing of plastic product surfaces, grinding of automotive maintenance paint, surface treatment of metal rust and plastic, etc. It can be reused, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly, and has obvious advantages over traditional sheet abraisve. It is the best choice to replace similar products.

Selection of sponge abraisves

Sponge abraisves are belt-shaped tools for grinding and polishing, which are composed of abrasives bonded to flexible materials such as paper and cloth. The base material of sponge abraisve used in furniture production is divided into two types: cloth and paper. The paper-based belt is a sponge abraisve with special treated high-strength paper as the base, which is 1/3 to 2/3 cheaper than the sponge abraisve with cloth-based belt. The paper-based belt is relatively hard and can polish high-gloss surfaces. It is used in precision grinding and ultra-precision grinding. The strength of the cloth-based belt is higher than that of the paper-based belt, and it is less sensitive to temperature and humidity, and will not lose stability due to increased temperature and humidity. The durability of the cloth-based sponge abraisves are much higher than that of the paper-based sponge abraisves. The commonly used abrasives in furniture production are alumina, silicon carbide, zirconia alumina, garnet, and glass sand is used as abrasive for manual abraisve, each with its characteristics.

For rough grinding, plasticity is large, and the grinding area is large, selecting coarse grain size to avoid clogging and the workpiece is relatively soft. For precision grinding, when the workpiece is harder, use fine-grained size. The abrasive is bonded to the base by a binder. The binder should have strength, elasticity, heat resistance, and water resistance. The commonly used binders are animal glue and synthetic resin. Animal glue is not water-resistant, and synthetic resin has good water resistance. Water-resistant sponge abraisve uses water-resistant synthetic resin as the base and composite adhesive, which are subjected to strict waterproof treatment. According to the roles of the base, abrasive, and binder, combined with the processing object and technical requirements, suitable base, abrasive, and binder can be selected to meet the requirements of sanding processing.
