What Are the Advantages of Belt-sanding Belts' Grinding?


Belt-sanding belts' grinding is a form of coated abrasive (commonly known as sandpaper or sand cloth) grinding. In the early 1950s, the emergence of electrostatic sand planting methods pushed belt-sanding belts' grinding to a new stage, and sanding belt grinding abrasives applications gradually became common. Later, Europe and Japan also carried out research and application of belt-sanding belts' grinding technology, and belt-sanding belts' grinding technology gradually developed into a complete category, with a relatively complete technical system and an independent processing technology field.


Belt-sanding belts' grinding can process various shapes of workpieces with high surface quality and precision requirements.


Belt-sanding belts' grinding can not only process common flat, inner and outer cylindrical surfaces, but also efficiently process the surfaces of large or irregularly shaped workpieces with high requirements for surface quality and precision. For example: polishing large-area sheet metal. The maximum width of a grinding wheel is only 1000mm, while a sanding belt can reach over 2500mm. By 2012, the widest sanding belt types used in a sanding belt grinder was 4900mm. In actual use, the common processing width of sanding belt grinding is 50-2000mm, and the processing thickness is 0.4-150mm. Its productivity reaches 1000m2/h. This wide sanding belt grinding can be widely used in the surface processing of large plates such as steel plates, stainless steel plates, silicon steel sheets, aluminum plates, copper plates, particle boards, plywood, medium density fiberboard, leather, insulating boards, ceramic plates, high-precision and low-roughness surface processing of large plates such as aerospace instruments, ships, and nuclear physics research devices. The precision processing of discontinuous planes of engine transmission case and other parts can also be formed once with wide sanding belt grinding, which can ensure better surface sealing than traditional milling and planing.


Belt-sanding belts' grinding can achieve continuous polishing of metal belts or wires.


Because of the development of wide sanding belt grinding, thin strip belts can have the same grinding conditions throughout the entire width, so as not to cause local excessive stress and produce stress deformation, so the surfaces of cold-rolled steel strips, copper, aluminum strips, and other alloy strip belts are suitable for continuous polishing with sanding belts. Its processing width is 600-2100mm, processing thickness is 0.1-2.2mm, surface roughness Ra3.2-0.1mm, and belt running speed is 3-80m/min. The planetary sanding belt grinding provides a very effective and economical method of polishing for stainless steel or other materials of coiled wires. The known wire polishing diameter ranges from 0.8 to 20mm. Continuous running speed is 6-150m/min.



Belt-sanding belts' grinding for the external and internal cylindrical surfaces of workpieces with a high length-to-diameter ratio.


The external cylindrical surface of various large-diameter-to-length ratio shaft-like workpieces and the internal cylindrical surface of tube-like workpieces in modern industry can be conveniently processed by belt sanding belts' grinding. Generally, a belt-sanding belts' grinding device can be added to a large standard device to achieve this. For a larger batch, special sanding belt grinders can be used, such as the external circular sanding belt grinder for large generators, rolling mills, and paper drying cylinders, etc. or the internal circular sanding belt grinder for cylinders, oil pipelines, pressure vessels, etc.


Belt-sanding belts' grinding for the polishing of complex and irregular workpieces.


The grinding of curved workpieces is more difficult. However, using the flexibility of sanding belts can easily process various complex curves, and even belt-sanding belts can polish the inner chamfers with a bending radius of only 3mm. For example, belt-sanding belts can be used for the efficient and high-quality polishing of aircraft engine blades, turbine blades, navigation blades, headlights, reflectors, tableware, handles, water heating appliances, etc.


There are various forms and varieties of belt-sanding belts' grinding equipment, which can be performed on various general-purpose belt-sanding belts' grinding equipment. General-purpose belt sanding belts' grinding equipment includes handheld sanding belt machines, universal sanding belt machines, and desktop belt-sanding belts' machines; larger ones include external circular sanding belt grinders, flat sanding belt grinders, eccentric sanding belt grinders, and internal cylindrical sanding belt grinders, etc. Special sanding belt grinders include camshaft belt-sanding belts' profile grinders, industrial tank belt-sanding belts' polishing machines, automobile tire steel ring end surface belt-sanding belts' polishing machines, motorcycle fuel tank belt-sanding belts' polishing machines, specialized stainless steel star dish silk machines, etc.
